Finally “found” some time to look at the paper bag photos I took as part of the Start to Finish still life photography course. Chose to combine the paper bag with walnuts collected by my daughter in the garden. There are very few this year, the leaves crumpled and yellowed very early and I guess they could not harvest enough sunlight to produce a good crop. The trees did produce a few new fresh green leaves, and now that it is autumn only these are still present, a very odd sight.
I used Kim Klassen’s touch of vintage preset to process this photo in Lightroom, it made the background of this photo way brighter and colourful.

I adore this photo – and so glad you took on the paper bag challenge. Your composition is beautiful – the way the walnuts are gently falling from the bag, the one nut cracked open, the crumpled leaves – as though one had just come in from picking the nuts from beneath a tree. The shallow depth of field really brings the focus to the cracked walnut. Beautiful!
Thank you so much Donna, also so nice I saw you “live” during the connect π I find the composition really challenging, but I think it also just a matter of doing. Still need to organize more backdrops so that I can make try more wide-angled still lives.
The nuts and paper bag are a perfect blend of organic things. Your image works so well with soft tones and depth of focus. Love this!!
Thank you Beverly :)) Now heading over to the link up to see all your finds π
This is so well done! I love the tones! Thist brings back memories of fun times with my grandsons. They love to go on a scavenger hunt and use these paper bags to collect their treasures!
Thank you Cathy π
Your photo is stunning Helena and that preset is the perfect compliment to it. I think I nee to upgrade to lightroom as it just seems so much friendlier than photoshop xx
Just learning about LIghtroom in this course now, never used it before that… to be honest I used to use just programs like Fotor or Irfanview for editing my photos,, a whole new world is opening up for me. Kim Klassen uses photoshop mainly for adding textures. I use photoshop for my web graphics a lot π
lovely image… love the images it conjures of moments shared with your daughter gathering… very lovely~
Thank you Patty π
So many wonderful little treasures! My daughter use to take a bucket and collect things from the yard, then add water to make ‘garden soup’. Yes it can be messy, but she loved it. I love all the textures in your image, it truly captures fall. Have a great week!
Yes making soup and other messy things is one of her favourite things too π Thanks for visiting π
